Women's Tennis Continues Fall Competition at SJU Invitational

Bucknell at a Glance
• Bucknell heads to Philadelphia for its second weekend of fall competition, as the Bison take on opponents from Drexel, Fairfield, Harford and Saint Joseph's at the 2024 SJU Invitational. The Bison are coming off a solid opening weekend at the Bucknell Invitational.
• The Bison went 14-4 in singles and 5-3 in doubles at the season-opening Bucknell Invitational last weekend. Bucknell's outstanding weekend record came against opponents from Lafayette, Millersville and Saint Francis. Four Bison went unbeaten in singles, including a 3-0 record by newcomer Cameron King. King also joined sophomore Tori Allen with a perfect 3-0 mark in doubles play.
• Bucknell's student-athletes were and stellar 5-1 in singles against fellow Patriot League team Lafayette at the Bucknell Invitational.
• The Bison are taking part in three fall tournaments, and they're also scheduled to compete at the ITA Regionals in October.
• Bucknell returns seven members of last year's squad, and it welcomes three newcomers: Natalie Devraj (Mandeville, La.), Riley Jennings (Apex, N.C.) and King (Albuquerque, N.M.).
• Bucknell returns two-time First Team All-Patriot League honoree Whitney King. The senior became just the third Bison in program history to receive both First Team All-Patriot League and Academic All-Patriot League accolades two seasons in a row, joining Daniela Bellini '22 and Maria Cioffi '16.
• King entered the 2024-25 season tied for 12th in the record book in career combined victories and took sole possession of the 12th spot over the weekend with 112 wins, including a 63-20 doubles record and a 50-21 singles mark. King's 63 doubles wins are eighth all-time. Fellow senior Anna Lajos has 48 career singles wins and tied for 20th on the all-time career combined victories list.
• Playing alongside King in nearly all of her doubles matches over the last two seasons has been junior Abby Platt, who is 43-13 in doubles over her career. Platt led all Bison in singles wins in 2023-24, going 19-8.
• Seniors King, Lajos and Caroline Marcus are serving as team captains for the 2024-25 campaign.
• Head coach Tammy Cecchini is entering her sixth season leading the program. She ranks third in program history with 56 wins.
A Look Ahead
• Bucknell heads to Baltimore, Md. to compete at the McClure Women's Tennis Invitational, hosted by Loyola (Md.), for a second year in a row. The Invitational runs from Friday, Oct. 4 through Sunday, Oc.t 6.
