HAMILTON, N.Y. – Sophomore Hayden Quinn posted a second straight under-par round to secure a top-five finish, and the Bucknell men's golf team moved up four spots to a T-6th finish as Colgate's Alex Lagowitz Memorial wrapped up Sunday at Seven Oaks GC.
The tournament was shortened to 36 holes after a long weather delay on Saturday, and the Bison followed up a first-round 298 with a 290 tally on Sunday. Bucknell's 588 total matched Penn for sixth place in a 15-team field. Navy and Seton Hall tied for the team championship with 573 totals, followed by Yale (579), Villanova (581), and Colgate (587).
Quinn was the low Bison in both rounds on the way to his second career top-10 finish. He was T-3rd at the Cornell Invitational last year with a 3-under 139. He shot 3-under again this weekend, backing up his opening-round 71 with a 2-under 70 on Sunday. Quinn began his final round with a birdie at the par-4 ninth hole, the first of his four birdies on the day.
Quinn was one of eight players in the 100-player field to finish in red numbers. He was alone in fifth place, three shots behind medalist Ryan Pamer of Villanova, who shot 67-71 to finish at 6-under 138. Seton Hall's David Lally and Yale's Matthew Lin were one back, with Colgate's Robbie Herzig in fourth at 140.
Also for Bucknell on Sunday, Michael Rudnick carded an even-par 72 to shoot 3-over 147 and a 23rd-place finish. Rudnick made five birdies on Sunday to cancel five bogeys. Freshman Patrick Pritsios backed up his opening-round 77 with a 73. James Key shot 75-76, and Jack Hartman posted 78-75.
The Bison will be back in action on Sept. 20-21 at the Navy Invitational.
