Bucknell Football Announces Preseason Promotional Events

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The 2024 Bucknell football season is fast approaching and officially kicks off Saturday, Aug. 31 with a historic game at Navy. The football program has a host of upcoming preseason events to get the Bison faithful geared up for the new campaign. A mix of community events, family-fun outings and fan engagements are on the horizon in the next three weeks. Additionally, preseason camp is underway, and all practices are open to the public from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Pascucci Family Athletics Complex.
Tuesday, August 6 – National Night Out
Bucknell Athletics and members of the Bucknell football program will be in attendance at Lewisburg's annual National Night Out, which takes place at the Lewisburg Area Recreation Park at North 15th and Saint Mary Street, on Tuesday, Aug. 6 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Bucky the Bison will be in attendance.
Saturday, August 24 – Family Fun Fest
The Bucknell football team is hosting its annual Family Fun Fest at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 24 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., where kids in eighth grade and under are invited to take part in football-related games and activities with current members of the Bison team.
All kids attending the event will receive a coupon for a free popcorn from the concession stand as well as an autographed team photo. Kids also have the opportunity to win a pair of tickets to Bucknell's Sept. 14 home opener vs. Merrimack by completing the activity stations and turning in their signed sheet.
Families are encouraged to sign their kids up for the Junior Bison Club, which guarantees a pair of tickets to the Sept. 14 home opener. Immediately following the Family Fun Fest, Junior Bison Club members are invited to join Bucky the Bison and members of the team for a post-event meal beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Monday, August 26 – Gridiron Club Preseason Reception
Bucknell football head coach Dave Cecchini and select student-athletes will be featured at a preseason luncheon reception at Bull Run Tap House in downtown Lewisburg on Monday, Aug. 26. The event is open to all, with admission prices of $15 for current Bison Club and Gridiron Club members, and $20 for the general public.
Several door prizes, ranging from game tickets to apparel, will be raffled off. The preseason reception replaces the regular Gridiron Club Luncheons that have taken place during the season in past years.

Saturday, August 31 – Season-Opening Tailgate at Navy
Join fellow Bucknell alumni, parents, and friends for an exciting pregame tailgate at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium prior to the Saturday, Aug. 31 season opener against the Midshipmen. Enjoy food and drinks with fellow Bucknellians before supporting the Bucknell football team in its first game against Navy in nearly a century.
The tailgate runs from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., leading right into the noon kickoff, and will be set up near the water tower off of Farragut Rd., next to the stadium. Click here for more information and to register.
Single-Game and Season Tickets on Sale
Fans can purchase single-game and season tickets for the 2024 Bucknell football campaign by visiting the Campus Box Office or by calling 570-577-2000. The Bison will be celebrating Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium's 100th anniversary season throughout the fall. The home opener against Merrimack on Saturday, Sept. 14 is First Responder and Military Appreciation Night. Bucknell is entering its sixth season under Cecchini and is coming off a record-setting 2023 campaign, during which the offense set program highs in single-season passing yards, passing touchdowns, completions and average yards per game. Bucknell welcomed more than 30 newcomers to the roster and returns a host of key contributors from last year, including All-Patriot League linebacker Brad Jamison and 2024 Preseason All-Patriot League selection Matt Schearer.
