Schinnerer Introduces Bucknell Swimming & Diving Incoming Rookie Class

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Men's and women's swimming & diving head coach Dan Schinnerer announced 12 newcomers that will join the program this fall as part of the Bucknell Class of 2028. The incoming first years include six members of the women's team and six members of the men's team. The Bison graduated four men and seven women this spring.
Every stroke specification is represented in the class, and the women's team added one diver. The women's team welcomed newcomers hailing from Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, Virginia and Toronto, Canada.
"This is a slightly smaller class than usual for us, but it definitely has the ability to have a big impact on our team and in our conference," said Schinnerer. "Last year showed that the Patriot League is getting more and more competitive from top to bottom, and we know we need to continue to improve. This group of young women will help our team across the stroke and event disciplines and we look forward to them being in the water with us in August."
The men's team welcomed newcomers from Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Ohio and Virginia.
"We are excited about what this group brings to our team. While we only graduated a small group of seniors, they were certainly a high impact group, thus we know we have some big shoes to fill. This group might not necessarily do it one-for-one so to speak, but it has the ability to help us continue to improve and keep up in a continually improving Patriot League," Schinnerer said.
Bucknell's women's team went 5-4 in duals in 2023-24, achieving a winning record for a seventh consecutive season, and finished fourth at the Patriot League Championships before taking the runner-up spot at the ECAC Championships. The women set new program records in the 100 breaststroke and 200 freestyle relay, and they landed three swimmers on the All-Patriot League Team and two on the Academic All-Patriot League Team.
Bucknell's men's team went 6-3 overall last season and is now 19-8 since the start of the 2021-22 campaign. The Bison men also took fourth at the Patriot League Championships and finished third at the ECAC Championships. They set five new program records, placed four on the All-Patriot League Team and one on the Academic All-Patriot League Team.
