Throwers Position Bucknell Women in Second Place on Day One of ECAC Championships

FAIRFAX, Va.- The Bucknell Bison women's track & field team sits in second place with 43.75 points, only ten behind Army West Point after the first day of the ECAC Championships. The Bison throwing corps has been decisive for the Orange & Blue, scoring 25 of the team's 43.75 points. Bucknell gathered three silver medals and nine All-East honors (top eight), already doubling the total from last year.

Justley Sharp continued her sensational freshman campaign by winning silver in the shot put. The rookie phenom's toss of 49-6 1/2 narrowly missed bringing out gold but her efforts won eight points for Bucknell. She also finished second in the shot put at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships. Sharp will now compete n the shot put at NCAA East Preliminaries later this month.

Two Bison javelin throwers ranked in the top five. Evelyn Bliss, who won the event at the Patriot League Championships last week, grabbed silver and Brylee Tereska clinched fourth place. Bliss's heave went 158-4, winning eight points, and Tereska's effort flew 140-10, collecting five points. Both throwers will compete in the NCAA East Preliminaries.

Bucknell added 13 points in the 3000-meter run with two top-five placements by rookie runners. Meghan Rentner won silver in the event with a time of 9:55.93, winning eight points. The mark ranks eighth in Bucknell history. Kailey Granger's 10:13.07 slotted fourth and won five points.

Madison McGloin unlocked fifth in the hammer throw with a toss of 172-4. The four points was a nice way for the senior thrower to cap her Bucknell career before she continues it at Florida State.

The 10,000-meter run witnessed two more top-eight spots for Bucknell. Margaret McLoughlin enjoyed a powerful second-half stretch and continued it by finishing fifth. Her time of 36:34.99 grabbed four points. Sophomore Lauren Joyce set a personal best time of 37:12.09, winning eighth and one point.

Elizabeth Bryant tied for seventh in the pole vault. Her clearance of 11-1 earned 0.75 points.
