About the Bison

Bucknell plays the fourth of its six spring tournaments on Sunday and Monday at Youngstown State's spring event. This will be Bucknell's second appearance in one of YSU's tourneys this season, as the Bison also participated in the Penguins' Roseann Schwartz Invitational in the fall, finishing fourth at Mill Creek GC.
This week's event features six-player lineups, and Bucknell will send out Tara Thomas, Kayla Yi, Kelsey Yi, Sofia Nogalo, Katherine Vice, and Nicole Yun.
No. 1 player Paige Richter gets the weekend off. Richter leads the squad with a 77.4 scoring average over the full season. Nogalo is next at 78.3, followed by Yun at 79.7 and Lila Smith at 79.9.
Bucknell's last appearance was an eighth-place finish at the Kingsmill Invitational, hosted by William & Mary. Nogalo was the low Bison there, posting rounds of 80-86-80 in tough scoring conditions. Yun's final-round 79 was Bucknell's low round of the week.
Earlier in March, Bucknell turned in a runner-up finish at the SMSU Spring Classic, hosted by Southwest Minnesota State at the Wigwam Resort in Arizona. The Bison finished eight strokes behind Saint Leo, the No. 14 team in Division II, even though Bucknell's final-round 300 was the best in the field.
Richter finished third individually after posting rounds of 72-74. She was tied for the lead with three holes to play, but Saint Leo's Elena Verticchio birdied the final two holes. Richter was named the Patriot League Golfer of the Week after her strong performance.
The Bison finished in the top five in the team standings in all five of its fall tournaments. Their 307.7 scoring average established a new school record. The previous low mark for a fall season was 310.1 in 2018.

Next Up

Bucknell will play at the Navy Invitational on Apr. 13-14 before hosting the 2024 Patriot League Championship, which will be held at the Bucknell Golf Club on Apr. 19-21.
