Women’s Golf in Third at YSU Spring Invitational

RESULTS
WARREN, Ohio – Freshman Katherine Vice carded a team-best 77, and senior twin sisters Kayla Yi and Kelsey Yi both posted 78s to lead the Bucknell women's golf team on day one of the Youngstown State Spring Invitational at Avalon Lakes Golf Course. The Bison posted a 313 team score and are in third place in a field of six at the tournament's halfway point.
After posting 42 on the front nine, Vice made back-to-back birdies at holes 11 and 12 followed by six straight pars to shoot 1-under 35 on the back nine. Kayla Yi got out to a great start, making a birdie at No. 9 to shoot an even-par 36 on the front side.
Bucknell also counted an 80 from Tara Thomas, who bounced back from a tough start to par 13 of her final 16 holes.
Youngstown State opened with a 302 to take a four-stroke lead over Akron. Bucknell is 14 shots in front of fourth-place La Salle, with Saint Francis and Mercyhurst rounding out the field.
The low score of the day was a 1-over 73 from Akron's Abbi Fleiner. Four players are two shots back at +3. Vice (T7th) and the Yi sisters (T10th) are all in the top 10.
The second and final round gets started with 8 a.m. tee times on Monday.
