
Men's Track & Field Sits Third After Day One of the Colonial Relays

WILLIAMSBURG, Va.- The Bucknell Bison men's track & field team sits third with 53 points through 13 events after the first day of the Colonial Relays. The Orange & Blue racked up five top-five finishes and one new Bucknell top-ten effort.

Three Bucknell runners combined for 17 points in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Jeffrey Gibbs won silver and eight points with his time of 9:17.79. Max DiCerbo earned bronze (9:18.77) and six points. Grant Kern supplied three points and sixth place with his mark of 9:41.37.
Jeffrey Cianfrocca continued his successful spring with a silver placement in the high jump. His 6-6 ½ leap won eight points for Bucknell.
Ben Santos had a banner day in the 5000-meter run. The Bison runner finished third, collecting eight points (the second-place runner was not a collegiate participant) for Bucknell. His 14:16.85 time now ranks seventh in Orange & Blue history.
A trio of Bucknell throwers teamed up for 11 points in the shot put. Wade Shomper won fourth place and five points (53-2 ¾), Braden Stryker collected fifth place and four points (53-0 ½), and Robert Lerner earned seventh place and two points (49-5 1.2).
Two Bison paired for six points in the hammer throw. Aiden Tacker's 171-10 ¾ toss ranked fifth and grabbed five points. Angelo Regec added a ducat on his attempt of 153-2.
Preston Lubeski provided a point with his speed in the 400-meter dash. The rookie's 49.18 earned him eighth place, 0.14 seconds ahead of his nearest pursuer.
Matthew Perello also chipped in a point for the Bison coffers with his eighth-place finish in the 200-meter dash. The dashman had a time of 22.31, 0.03 seconds ahead of the ninth-place runner.
Thomas White participated in the day's final event, the 10,000-meter run, and won eighth place and a point for the Bison. His 31:00.17 was a full five minutes better than the nearest competition.
