Women’s Golf Improves on Day Two of Patriot League Championship

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Led by a 74 from freshman Katherine Vice and a 75 from fellow first-year Lila Smith, the Bucknell women's golf team posted a 306 team score in the second round of the Patriot League Championship at Bucknell Golf Club on Saturday. The Bison improved by seven shots over their first-round tally but still sit in fifth place, four shots behind fourth-place Richmond.
The 306 total was the third-best in the six-team field on Saturday. Boston University posted 295 and Navy 298, but the Mids still hold the overall lead by three strokes over the Terriers. Navy is at 593 for the championship, followed by Boston University (596), Lehigh (610), Richmond (615), Bucknell (619), and Holy Cross (644).
On a sunny but windy day in Lewisburg, Vice made 14 pars and four bogeys on the way to her 4-over 74, which was a career best. Smith made 11 pars and added a birdie at the 14th hole for her 75, and sophomore Paige Richter remained in the top-10 after shooting 77. Richter is T-9th on the individual leaderboard with a 36-hole total of 153.
Freshmen Sofia Nogalo and Nicole Yun both carded 80s in the second round, and Kelsey Yi shot 82.
Sue Lee of Navy has the individual lead at 5-over 145. Christy Chen of Boston University carded a 69 on Saturday to join Navy's Stephanie Lee in a tie for second, one shot back.
The third and final round gets underway at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday.
