LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell football team's annual Spring Game will be held on Sunday, April 21 at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.
"I would love to keep everyone healthy and make it something that is exciting for fans and parents to watch and enjoy, and we're still finding out about some guys," said Bison head coach Dave Cecchini. "We're still looking at who's first string, who's going to start. Guys could potentially move up and down the depth chart, and we're getting live snaps. We've really only had one other day where we had about 50 snaps of live, so the Spring Game is another opportunity to get 50 or 60 live snaps and get some guys evaluated."
The game is scheduled to begin at noon and will pit the Bison's offense against their defense. Sunday marks the last time Bucknell will take the football field this spring, concluding a month of practices. The game is open to the public and free of charge.
Sunday's game will consist of three scored sessions: a move-the-ball scrimmage, a red-zone scrimmage and a 4th-down challenge. After each of these sessions, the winning side will be awarded a point. The Bison defense emerged victorious in all three scored sessions during last year's Spring Game to defeat the offense, 3-0.
Between two of the game's sessions, Cecchini will announce Bucknell's 2024 captains, as voted by their peers.
The Bison are entering their sixth season under Cecchini and are coming off a record-setting 2023 campaign in which the offense set new program highs in single-season passing yards, passing touchdowns, completions and average yards per game. Bucknell returns a host of key contributors from last year and welcomes 26 freshmen to the roster for the 2024 season.
Season tickets for the 2024 campaign will go on sale Wednesday, May 1. Fans will be able to purchase tickets by visiting the Bucknell Campus Box Office.
