Men’s Tennis Falls at Navy, 5-2

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Amar Tahirovic and Liam Kilmer posted singles wins, but the Bucknell men's tennis team fell 5-2 at Navy on Sunday in Annapolis. The Bison fell to 13-6 overall and 2-2 in the Patriot League, while the Midshipmen improved to 25-13 overall and 4-2 in league play.
Herrick Legaspi and Nathan Nguyen pulled out a close 7-5 win over Adam Stavrakas and Oscar Bain Moreno de Vega on Court 2 to help Navy take the doubles point. Legaspi later clinched the match with a three-set win over Stavrakas at No. 2 singles.
Tahirovic was a 7-6, 1-6, 6-4 winner over reigning Patriot League Player of the Year Sasha Panyan at No. 1 singles to improve to 23-6 on the season. Kilmer defeated Steve Nguyen 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4 to improve to 21-6.
Stavrakas and Tim Zelikovsky (No. 5) both dropped three-setters. Zelikovsky's eight-match winning streak came to an end, and he fell to 26-3 on the season.
Bucknell has two matches remaining in the regular season, both at home next weekend. The Bison will host Lehigh on Saturday and Lafayette on Sunday, with Senior Day ceremonies honoring Zelikovsky slated for Sunday.
