Men's Track & Field Competes in Decathlon on Day One of Bison Outdoor Classic

LEWISBURG, Pa.- The Bucknell Bison men's track & field opened the first day of the Bison Outdoor Classic with two student-athletes, Michael Chernova and Miguel Negrete, competing in the decathlon. Half of the ten events were held today and the remaining five will be contested tomorrow.
Results
Chernova, a freshman, resides in ninth place with 2965 points but was as high as fourth place before slotting 12th in the high jump (5-5 ¼) and the 400-meter dash (57.21). His fast start was powered by placing third in the long jump (21-1 ½), fifth in the 100-meter dash (11.50), and seventh in the shot put (33-9 ¼).
Negrete, a senior, is an old hand at the event. He slots 11th with 2900 points. His best finish was second in the shot put (37-3). The senior placed 11th in three events, high jump (5-6 ½), 100-meter dash (11.81), and 400-meter dash (56.70). He finished 12th in the long jump (19-6 ¼).
The Bison Outdoor Classic resumes tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.
