
Men's Tennis Downs Dukes 7-0 at Home

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Bucknell men's tennis team won all three doubles matches and all six in singles to defeat Duquesne 7-0 at the Central PA Tennis Center on Saturday. It was Bucknell's third 7-0 sweep of the season, as the Bison improved to 9-4 with the victory.
The Bison gave up no sets in singles play, and two of Bucknell's doubles teams gave up just one game in 6-1 victories. Duquesne fell below .500 at 6-7 on the season with the loss.
Oscar Bain Moreno de Vega and Adam Stavrakas won 6-1 at second doubles, and Tim Zelikovsky joined Liam Kilmer with same score at third doubles. Brendan McDonald and Amar Tahirovic won 6-3 at first doubles to sweep the point.
Tahirovic defeated Duquesne's Kaipo Marshall 6-3, 6-3 at first singles. It was Marshall's first loss of the season on court one. Bain won 6-2, 6-4 on court three, McDonald fought to a 7-5, 6-0 win on court four, and Kilmer earned a 6-2, 6-2 win on court five.
Stavrakas and Zelikovsky each took wins by retirement. Zelikovsky won his first set over Pierce Manning 6-2, and Stavrakas was up 2-1 in the first frame at the time of his opponent's retirement.
Bucknell's win over Duquesne was its first since 2012. The Bison have now captured wins in six of their last eight duals.
The Bison go on the road Sunday to face Saint Joseph's in Philadelphia, Pa. That dual is set to begin at 1 p.m.
