Women's Water Polo Concludes West Coast Tour

IRVINE, Calif. -- In the last match of their West Coast trip, the Bucknell women's water polo team faced Concordia. Despite holding a two-goal lead at one stage during the first half, the Bison ultimately succumbed to the Golden Eagles 9-7.
Junior attacker Boati Motau and sophomore utility Gwen Kallmeyer led the Bison in goals, each scoring twice. Additionally, freshmen attackers Campbell Collins and Regan Coon, along with sophomore center Bella Schraa, contributed goals for Bucknell.
Facing a formidable opponent in Concordia, Bucknell fought relentlessly throughout the game, striving for their closest contest on the West Coast tour. Motau initiated the scoring for Bucknell with a successful power-play goal, marking the first goal of the game for either team. Kallmeyer capitalized on an opportunity, receiving a pass from Collins and firing a shot to level the game at 3:20. The Bison concluded the first half with a 4-3 lead.
During a man-up opportunity for the Bison, Motau located Kallmeyer, who swiftly scored to commence the second half. However, the Golden Eagles emerged with vigor in the latter half, outscoring the Bison and preventing them from narrowing the gap thereafter.
Freshman goalkeeper Tamara Torkos made 11 saves and secured two steals against the Golden Eagles.
