Bucknell at a Glance
- Patriot League play has arrived, as Bucknell hosts Boston University on Saturday in the conference openers for both teams. This is one of four Patriot League matches on the Saturday slate. Elsewhere, No. 5 Loyola visits Army, No. 18 Navy travels to Colgate, and Holy Cross plays at Lafayette.
- The Bison women's lacrosse squad bounced back from a frustrating loss to Mount St. Mary's with a strong performance in a 15-12 road win over Kent State last Saturday. Bucknell never trailed in the game and led by as many as eight goals against the defending Mid-American Conference regular-season champion.
- Allie Boyce and Braeden Siverson recorded hat tricks, and Regan Sansiviero and Abby Henderson both scored their first career goals in the win. Boyce reached a big milestone, becoming the 10th player in team history to score 100 career goals. She registered three straight Bison goals in a three-minute span in the second quarter to make it an 8-2 game.Â

- Bucknell ranks fifth out of 10 teams in the Patriot League in goals per game (12.2). Boyce leads the squad with 15 goals and 17 points, and Emily Baird (10-3-13), Alex Nesbitt (8-5-13), and Megan Krestinski (9-3-12) have also reached double digits in the points column.
- Siverson (26), Aliza Thir (15), and Tatumn Kohlbrenner (14) lead the team in draw controls. Bucknell won the DC battle 18-12 at Kent State after struggling in that area in the loss to Mount St. Mary's. Kohlbrenner picked up seven, including a big one with about a minute to go that allowed the Bison to run out the clock.
- Boyce led the nation in shot accuracy last season, and she currently ranks third this year at .714. only Virginia's Mackenzie Hoag (.733) and Mount St. Mary's Mackenzi Furlong (.722) have higher percentages. Boyce also leads the Patriot League in free-position goals (1.17 per game) and free-position percentage (.700).
- Colleen Kazanjian has started four of the six games in goal and has 38 saves with 56 goals allowed for a .404 save percentage. She made a career-high 13 saves against Mount St. Mary's after posting 10 in a win over Robert Morris. She tallied seven saves in Saturday's win at Kent State.
- Bucknell is looking to improve on last year's 6-10 record. The Bison were picked ninth in the Patriot League preseason poll. The league is loaded with talent this year, with three teams ranked in the IWLCA national poll at times this season.
- The Bison returned 195 of their 209 goals (93.3%) from last season. The 209 goals were the team's most since 2016. Boyce led the way with 50, while Taylor Kopan, Baird, and Krestinski all tallied 22. Taylor McClain recorded 13 goals and a team-high 33 assists. Â
- Bucknell's biggest graduation loss was First Team All-Patriot League defender Ella Payer, who departed as the program's all-time leader in draw controls.
- Head coach Jackie Dando is in her fifth season as Bucknell's head coach. Lisa Oakley is back for her second season working with the defenders and draw specialists, while Jordan Baerga is in her first year working with the attack unit.
- The Terriers come to Lewisburg with a 4-2 record. They won their first four games over Merrimack (17-6), New Hampshire (18-14), Iona (18-13), and Stonehill (16-15), but last week they fell to two ranked opponents in No. 3 Boston College (23-5) and No. 25 Brown (21-9).
- Boston University was picked fifth in the Patriot League preseason poll after finishing 9-9 overall and 4-5 in the Patriot League last season. The Terriers made the Patriot League Tournament as the No. 6 seed but fell to Navy 20-13 in the quarterfinals. Boston University had beaten Navy earlier in the season for its first win over a ranked foe since 2014.
- Elle Stevenson leads the team with 18 goals and is fourth in the Patriot League in goals per game with 3.6. Stevenson started the season with back-to-back five-goal outings against Merrimack and New Hampshire.
- Hannah Tillier (14-6-20), Reilly Walsh (9-4-13), Abby Cotraro (10-1-11), and Avery Jones (7-3-10) all have double-digit point totals.
- Freshman Natalie Aiosa has handled most of the goalkeeping for the Terriers. She has played in all six games with five starts and has a .371 save percentage. Aiosa has recorded double-digit saves four times, with a high of 11 against Boston College.
- Bucknell is 1-9 all-time against the Terriers. The Bison won the first meeting 12-8 in 1996, but Boston University has taken all nine since joining the Patriot League in 2014.
- The Terriers won 11-10 in overtime in the last meeting at Graham Field in 2022. Caroline Miller scored a dramatic tying goal with 12 seconds left for the Bison, but Matty Spaeth won it for Boston University 48 seconds into OT.
- Last season in Boston, Reilly Agres made 16 saves to lead the Terriers to a 13-9 win. Claire Gola scored five of Boston University's first six goals on the way to a 7-1 lead, and then the hosts fended off a late Bucknell rally. Allie Boyce, Taylor Kopan, and Alex Nesbitt scored two goals each for the Bison.
- Bucknell hits the road next Saturday to face Holy Cross at 1 p.m.
