RESULTS
LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – Paige Richter fired an even-par 72 to lead the Bucknell women's golf team to a 309 total on day one of the SMSU Spring Classic, hosted by Southwest Minnesota State at Wigwam Resort. A Bison lineup featuring four freshmen along with the sophomore Richter is in second place in the 12-team field, trailing leader St. Leo by 11 strokes.
Richter made three birdies and 12 pars to offset three bogies, and she is in third place on the individual leaderboard, two shots off the lead. Elena Verticchio of St. Leo and Paige Hoffman of Northwest Missouri both shot 2-under 70.
Lila Smith is also in the top 10, as her 77 has her in a tie for ninth place. Smith made a team-high four birdies on the day, including a pair at 17 and 18 to finish her round.
Bucknell also counted a 79 from Sofia Nogalo and an 81 from Nicole Yun. Katherine Vice tallied an 83. The Bison also had two individuals in action, with Erin Drahnak carding an 82 and Tara Thomas an 83.
The second and final round will be held on Tuesday afternoon.
