About the Bison
- The Bucknell women's golf squad is back in action for the first time since mid-February when it makes a Spring Break trip to Arizona for the Southwest Minnesota State Spring Classic.
- The Bison made their spring debut at the Advance Golf Partners Collegiate at Hammock Creek GC in Palm City, Fa., on Feb. 11-13. Bucknell finished 13th in a strong field with rounds of 319-318-324. Paige Richter was the low Bison at 238 (79-83-76).
- The sophomore Richter leads the Bison into Arizona this week and will be followed in the lineup by four freshmen: Sofia Nogalo, Nicole Yun, Lila Smith, and Katherine Vice. Erin Drahnak and Tara Thomas are playing as individuals.
- This is the second of five spring tournaments leading up to the 2024 Patriot League Championship, which will be held at the Bucknell Golf Club on Apr. 19-21.
- The Bison finished in the top five in the team standings in all five of its fall tournaments. Their 307.7 scoring average established a new school record. The previous low mark for a fall season was 310.1 in 2018.
- Richter (76.0) and Nogalo (76.8) led the team in scoring average during the fall season. Richter turned in two top-10 finishes, including a T-7th at the Lehigh Invitational to finish out the fall. Nogalo fired a 2-under 70 at the Roseann Schwartz Invitational, hosted by Youngstown State. She finished in a tie for first place in that event, settling for the runner-up medal on tiebreaker criteria.
- Yun (78.2) and Smith (79.3) also logged sub-80 averages in their rookie seasons. Smith's 68 in the second round of her career was a school record.
- SMSU hosts three consecutive tournaments at Wigwam, and this is the third of the three. The Bison played here for the first time last season, finishing as the runner-up to Patriot League rival Lehigh in an eight-team field.
- Bucknell posted rounds of 322-314 last season. Paige Richter was the low Bison, finishing third with rounds of 78-72.
- The Bison will be at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Va., for William & Mary's spring even on March 25-26.
