Women's Tennis Plays Host to Saint Francis Friday at Central PA Tennis Center

Bucknell at a Glance
• Bucknell gears up for a Friday evening match against Saint Francis at the Central PA Tennis Center. It's the team's first home match of the season and its only of the weekend. The Bison look to bounce back from two losses on the road last weekend.
• Bucknell dropped road contests at reigning ODAC champion Washington and Lee and Richmond on the road in Virginia last weekend. The Bison picked up wins at No. 1 doubles and No. 3 singles against the Generals while Anna Lajos supplied the team's only win in the match against the Spiders.
• Bucknell's one dual win came over Binghamton on Jan. 21. The Bison won 7-0 over the Bearcats in their first weekend of competition of the semester.
• Bucknell went 4-1 in home duals last season, including a 2-0 mark at the Central PA Tennis Center.
• Bucknell's top doubles team, Whitney King and Abby Platt, suffered their first loss of the season against the Spiders on Saturday. They remain 12-1 and are 27-5 since the start of last season, including a perfect 7-0 mark against Patriot League teams.
• Lajos currently leads the Bison in singles wins for a second year in a row. She's 10-4 overall, 2-3 in duals and 8-1 in tournament action.
• Bucknell finished the 2022-23 campaign 13-13 (4-3 PL) and reached the Patriot League semifinal round for a second time under head coach Tammy Cecchini. The Bison defeated Colgate 4-0 in the quarterfinals for the program's 500th all-time victory in what was the 50th season of Bucknell women's tennis. At the end of the year, King was named to the All-Patriot League First Team and the Academic All-Patriot League Team.
• Bucknell returned all eight members of last spring's roster and added two newcomers: Tori Allen and Jaycie Mair. The roster is comprised of three seniors, three juniors, two sophomores and the two rookies.
• Seniors Tyne Miller, Kate Novak and Madi Sebulsky are serving as team captains this season.
• Cecchini is in her fifth year leading the Bison. She owns a 37-36 record since arriving in Lewisburg.

Scouting Saint Francis
• Saint Francis improved to 3-4 (2-0 NEC) with wins over LeMoyne and Bloomsburg at home last Sunday. The Red Flash swept both opponents to snap a three-match losing skid.
• Saint Francis is 0-1 against Patriot League opponents this season, as it suffered a 7-0 loss at Navy on Jan. 20 to open the spring portion of its schedule. Its other win this season was a 7-0 sweep over Binghamton back in October.
• Saint Francis went 10-11 (3-1 NEC) in 2022-23 and fell to St. Francis Brooklyn in the NEC quarterfinals. It returns NEC All-Rookie Team member Kelly Dowuona from last season.
• Freshman Diana Zuba leads the Red Flash in singles wins (11-4) and is 4-2 on court one. Dowuona is a team-best 9-5 in doubles play.
• Bucknell fell 4-3 to the Red Flash on the road last season. The Bison won the doubles point but only captured wins at No. 1 and No. 6 singles by Whitney King and Mirra Manolov. The Bison defeated the Red Flash the year before by a 6-1 decision at home.

• Bucknell remains at home to play host to Seton Hall and Delaware on Saturday, Feb. 17 and Sunday, Feb. 18.
