LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell football team landed a league-high 60 student-athletes on the Fall 2023 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, which was announced on Thursday. It's the seventh time in eight years Bucknell has led the league, and the 60 honorees broke the team's previous record of 56 set in 2021.
Bucknell placed five more student-athletes on the Academic Honor Roll than second-place Georgetown (55). Lafayette (51) was the only other school with 50 or more honorees.
Bucknell as a whole led all other Patriot League schools with a total of 174 Academic Honor Roll members for the fall of 2023. The Leopards were second with 150 student-athletes recognized.
As a team, Bucknell recorded a combined grade-point average of 3.35 during the fall semester. A staggering 48 Bison football players made the Dean's List with at least a 3.5 GPA, and six recorded perfect 4.0s: seniors Colby Grames, Ethan Pitzel and Harrison Shepherd, junior Aneesh Vyas, sophomore Daniel Sierk and freshman Nick Hoying.
Seven seniors were named to the Academic Honor Roll all four years during their careers: Adam Barakat, Coleman Bennett, Connor Carretta, Pitzel, Sean Quarterman, Ryan Schatzel and Shepherd.
All three of Bucknell's 2023 All-Patriot league Team members, Bennett, Ethan Robinson and Brad Jamison, earned spots on the Academic Honor Roll. Bennett and Robinson, along with John Ohnegian, were also named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team in November.
To qualify for the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must have achieved a minimum 3.20 GPA during the semester in which their team competed. A total of 283 football players were honored this season. The following are the Bucknell football team's 2021 Spring Patriot League Academic Honor Roll members:
