COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. – Sean Keys homered, Nic Adamo recorded yet another game-winning RBI, and Hadley Maxwell earned his first collegiate win on the mound as the Bucknell baseball squad won its third straight game, 7-4 over Massachusetts on Saturday at Shepherd Stadium.
The Bison and Minutemen were slated to play a doubleheader on Saturday, but with rain imminent game two was postponed, and the two teams will now play two seven-inning games on Sunday starting at 11 a.m.
For the second straight day, Bucknell spotted the Minutemen a 2-0 lead in the first inning as a pair of walks came around to score in the bottom of the first. The Bison struck right back with four runs in the top of the second, sparked by Jacob Corson's two-run single.
UMass tied it with two runs in the second, but Maxwell, Brady Swenson, and Graeme Carroll pitched scoreless ball over the final five innings.
Adamo, who drove in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning in Bucknell's 9-7 win on Friday night, snapped the 4-4 deadlock with an RBI single in the third. In the sixth, Adamo led off with a double, went to third on Chris Morabito's single, and scored on a double-play ground ball.
Keys belted his second homer of the season in the top of the seventh to make it 7-4.
After putting up zeroes in the fifth and sixth innings, Swenson exited with men at first and third and no outs in the seventh. Carroll picked him up, getting a strikeout, a short fly ball, and another strikeout to strand the runners. It was Carroll's second career save, with the other one coming against Duke in 2022.
