
Women's Swim & Dive Wraps Up Day Two at Patriot League Championships

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Bucknell women's swimming & diving team wrapped up the second day of the Patriot League Championships, and first-year Virginia Hasting's performance in the 500 freestyle highlighted the day for the Bison.
Hastings broke into the school's top-10 performance list during the prelims by posting a 4:55.58 to rank ninth all-time in the 500 free. It was also good enough for fourth in the prelims, earning her a spot in the A finals. She grabbed 23 seventh-place points Thursday evening, posting a 4:57.87.
Claire Kehley, Rylie Giles and Sydney Dettmann each earned spots in the B finals and placed 13th, 14th and 15th, respectively. First-year Kelly Byrne was just off a program top-10 times in the 500 free, posting a 4:55.92 to take third in the C final.
Kyla Kelly and Esme Hunter both qualified for the B final in the 200 IM. Kelly placed 11th overall with a 2:03.65, and Hunter was right behind her with a 2:03.69 in 12th.
The women wrapped up the evening with the 400 medley relay, but the Bison suffered a disqualification. Earlier in the day, Jennifer Bolden was just outside of a finals qualifying time in the 50 freestyle, landing two spots outside the top 24 in the prelims with a 24.05.
The Bison fell to sixth place on Thursday with 273 points through 13 events. Loyola is one spot ahead of Bucknell with 287 points, and the hosting Mids lead the way with 502 points.
The championships resume Friday morning with the 100 butterfly prelims beginning at 10 a.m.
