LEWISBURG, Pa. – Two members of Bucknell's 2024 Patriot League regular-season champion women's soccer team earned United Soccer Coaches All-North Region honors on Tuesday. Senior midfielder Teresa Deda was a Third Team selection, while senior defender Katie Schiano garnered a spot on the Fourth Team.
Deda joins Kendall Ham (2015-17) as Bucknell's only three-time All-Region honorees. Deda was a First Team choice in 2023 and a Third Team pick in 2021. Schiano was honored at the regional level for the first time.
Both were Patriot League major award winners this fall. Deda captured her third straight Patriot League Midfielder of the Year citation, while Schiano was voted Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Deda recorded a career-high 10 goals to go with nine assists this season, giving her 23 goals and a school-record 38 assists in her career. Her 84 career points are fifth-most in team history, and her 23 goals rank 10th all-time. Not only were her 38 assists a new Bucknell record, but that total ranked fourth in Patriot League history and was fourth-highest among all active Division I players this season.
Deda recorded a point in 12 of the team's 19 games this season. She scored twice in a 3-0 win over Colgate, she assisted on all three goals in a 3-1 win at American, and she logged a goal and an assist in a 4-0 win over Loyola in the Patriot League Tournament semifinals, which sent the Bison into the league title match for the fourth straight year.
Schiano earned her second All-Patriot League honor this season and nabbed the Defensive Player of the Year award to go with it after spearheading a back four that helped compile a 0.44 team goals-against average in Patriot League play. Bucknell's 0.79 GPA in all games was by far the best in the league.
Bucknell finished 12-4-3 overall and 7-2 in Patriot League play this season. The Bison claimed the league's regular-season title but fell in penalty kicks to Boston University in the PL championship match, ending their run of three straight titles.
