LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell sophomore wingback Jack Lucas earned Patriot League Midfielder of the Week honors on Monday after his second-half equalizer against Lafayette gave the Bison the point they needed to remain in a first-place tie and clinch a top-two seed for the Patriot League Tournament. Cade McGrath's sensational feed across the 6-yard box was slammed home by Lucas in the 65th minute of Friday's match, earning Lucas his first Patriot League citation.
Down 1-0, McGrath collected a ball in the wide area to the right of the box, faced up his defender, and beat his man to the end line. Meanwhile, Lucas made a hard diagonal run from his left wingback position, arriving at the top of the 6-yard box just in time to roof McGrath's slotted pass into the top of the net for his second goal of the season.
Lucas has had an excellent season thus far, leading the Bison with seven points. Lucas joins Drew Roskos and Ben Sheffield for a team-leading two goals each. Lucas is also leading the team in assists next to David Krumov and Cade Whitmire, who all have three each.
With one match remaining, Bucknell and Boston University are tied with 15 points. The Terriers hold the tiebreaker, meaning the Bison need to gain points from Tuesday's final PL match day to grab the top seed.
The Bison take on Loyola in the regular season finale on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
