STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Despite a valiant offensive effort, Bucknell men's water polo fell to Wagner 16-14 in a competitive regular-season finale on Sunday in Staten Island.
The Bison came out firing with early goals from Matt Ryckman, Sean Tunnicliff, and Aleksa Stefanovic, quickly taking a 3-0 lead. Wagner responded, tying the game 3-3, and both teams traded goals through a tightly contested first half, with neither team leading by more than two. After Bucknell held a slim lead, Wagner's Andrew Cowie tallied back-to-back goals to move the Seahawks ahead 9-7.
Bucknell rallied in the second half with Stefanovic tying the game, followed by a goal from Ryckman to recapture the lead. Jack Murad then scored, giving Bucknell an 11-10 advantage, but Wagner soon equalized with a goal from Kyle Chambers and eventually pulled away to secure the win.
