Alapi Caps Off Perfect Singles Weekend with Win at River City Open

RICHMOND, Va. -- Freshman Nelson Alapi posted his third singles victory in as many days, beating Richmond Paxton Prichard 6-4, 3-6, 10-1 on Sunday to complete a 3-0 singles weekend at the River City Open. The Bison contingent finished 7-3 in singles over the three-day event to improve to 43-6 as a team this fall.
Alapi knocked off opponents from Georgetown, William & Mary, and host Richmond this weekend to push his season record to 8-1. Two of the three wins were three-setters.
Liam Kilmer and Will Robinson had also been victorious on both Friday and Saturday, but both dropped hard-fought matches on Sunday. Robinson fell to Richmond's Zachary Portnoy 7-5, 6-2, and Kilmer fell to VCU's German Samofalov 6-3, 6-2.
Bucknell is back in action Oct. 17-20 at ITA Regionals in Philadelphia.
