Thomas Wins Third Patriot League Rookie of the Week Honor

LEWISBURG, Pa. – For the third time in as many games, Bucknell freshman running back Tariq Thomas has captured the Patriot League Rookie of the Week award. Thomas ran for a career-high 94 yards on nine carries – an average of 10.4 yards per carry – in Saturday's game against Cornell.
Thomas has started each of Bucknell's last six games, and over the last three he has amassed 228 yards on the ground. The Springfield, Mass., native has now earned Rookie of the Week citations after each of the team's last three games, against Lehigh, Penn, and Cornell. The only week in which he did not win the award was when the Bison were on a bye.
Thomas' rushing total against Cornell included a career-long 47-yard run in the fourth quarter. He is the team's leading ground-gainer this season with 357 yards on 82 carries with two touchdowns.
The Bison fell to 3-4 on the season after Saturday's 34-21 loss to the Big Red, and now the team turns its attention back to Patriot League play. Bucknell is 1-0 in the league, and each of its final five games will all be against conference foes. Next up is a trip to Georgetown this Saturday at 2 p.m.
