LEWISBURG, Pa.- Lily Neilson continued her award collecting season by winning again Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week and freshman Reese Czajkowski earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday. Both Bison players scored two goals in the 6-2 victory over Lehigh, which clinched a Patriot League Tournament bid for the 17th straight season for Bucknell.Â
Neilson extended her goal-scoring streak of two scores to four games in the decisive win. She ties Penn State's Olympian Sophia Gladieux for the nation's longest such streak in 2024. Her first tally came off a penalty stroke for the 3-0 lead. It was Neilson's first career penalty stroke conversion. Her second goal arrived off her standard reverse shot to stop a 2-0 Lehigh run.Â
The Australian forward tied two Patriot League records regarding the weekly award. Her fourth win this season ties the PL record for most in a season matching her total from 2023 and her tenth overall draws her even with Lafayette's Deanna DiCroce (2009-2012). Neilson has now won four of the five weekly awards this season.Â
It has been a record-breaking season for the senior. Her two goals against Lehigh moved her into sole possession of career goals at Bucknell (57) and third place in Patriot League history. She sits at 120 career points, two away from tying Karin Wegener for first in the Bison record book. In the single season categories, she ranks tied for fourth in goals (15) and tied for sixth in points (32).Â
Neilson nationally sits fourth in goals and fifth in goals per game (1.07). Both marks lead the Patriot League by substantial margins.Â
Czajkowski has made an immediate impact on the pitch for the Bucknell attack. She opened the scoring against the Mountain Hawks with two goals by converting via excellent rebound opportunities in two minutes. The 2-0 start set the tone for the Bucknell avalanche. The Bison have scored 19 goals in in the four games. The rookie increased her seasonal total to four goals, third best on the team, as are her ten points.Â
The duo and the Bison welcome #12 Syracuse to Holmes Stadium this Thursday for a showdown under the lights at 7 p.m.
