Field Hockey Swamps Lehigh 6-2 for Fourth Straight Win and 17th Consecutive PL Tournament Bid

The Bison have now scored 19 goals during its four-game winning streak after tallying 16 scores in the season's first ten games. The six goals match the seasonal high versus Lock Haven.
Lily Neilson scored two goals for the fourth consecutive game and extended her career total to 57, establishing sole control of the Bucknell career goals record. Her 120 points sit two away from tying Karin Wegener's first place total of 122. In the single-season lists, she ranks tied for fourth in goals (15) and tied for sixth in points (32). Her 32 points are a new career high, breaking her previous mark of 31 set in 2021.Â
Reese Czajkowski started the scoring with two goals as the rookie forward has continued to impress. Katie Lintz tallied her second career goal and Kira Leclercq topped off the Bison goal party with a tally off a penalty corner.Â
Bucknell outshot Lehigh, 16-4, as the Bison kept the pressure on with 11 shots on goal.Â
Czajkowski provided her two goals in two minutes. The first goal came nine minutes into the contest after the freshman positioned herself for a rebound off a penalty corner. The second score was another rebound opportunity after the sphere flew off the goalie's pads. Czajkowski was there to tap in the score.Â
Three minutes later, Bucknell received a penalty stroke opportunity and selected Lily Neilson for the chance. Neilson lined up her shot and fired to the left corner past the diving keeper who guessed right but could not stop the speedy sphere. It was Neilson's first goal in four career stroke opportunities and gave Bucknell a 3-0 lead.ÂReese Czajkowski scores a second goal!

The second quarter started but the Bison continued their hot streak. Gianna Puorro maneuvered around Lehigh's right flank and sent the ball to Lintz. The sophomore borrowed a page from Neilson and used a reverse chip shot to score Bucknell's fourth goal.ÂLILY DILLY!

Her 56th goal of her career came on her first-ever penalty stroke. She now has sole possession of first place in Bucknell history for goals!

Lehigh made events interesting by grabbing two quick goals in the first three minutes of the third quarter. The first goal, by Riley Thurston, came less than a minute into the contest. The second score arrived a few minutes later and suddenly the Bison only led 4-2.ÂKate Lintz with the backhand shot!

Neilson ended any chances of a possible rally. At the 42nd minute mark, freshman Sally Hunter sent a pass to the senior striker who positioned herself at the top of the circle. The ball zipped past the Mountain Hawks defense.Â
The Mountain Hawks pulled their goalie with five minutes left to go. Bucknell received a penalty corner with 56 seconds remaining. Leclercq scored her seventh goal of the season with a perfect drag flick past the Lehigh defenders. It proved the perfect cherry to the Bison sundae.ÂLILY DILLY!
