Men's Swim & Dive Hosts Lehigh for Senior Day, Final Dual Meet Saturday

Bucknell at a Glance
• Bucknell hosts Lehigh on Saturday for the team's final meet at Kinney Natatorium this season and its final dual meet. The Bison hit the road next weekend for their last competition before the 2024 Patriot League Championships, hosted at Navy Feb. 21-24. This Saturday's meet will be broadcast on ESPN+.
• Bucknell is celebrating Senior Day on Saturday, and four men's swimmers as well as seven members of the women's team will be recognized prior to the meet. The men's team has gone 19-10 (16-9 PL) in duals with this senior class, and the group includes a pair of two-time All-Patriot League honorees and has combined to score 187.5 points at the Patriot League Championships. The men's seniors include: Noah Basista, Kevin Crane, Chris Fabian and John Gehrig.
• Bucknell went 1-1 when it last competed on Jan. 13 and 14. The Bison dropped a road dual at Army before returning home to defeat La Salle 179-121. Against the Explorers, Bucknell recorded nine first-place finishes and went 1-2-3 in three races. Gehrig took first in the 100 butterfly at Army for the team's only win in West Point.
• Sophomore diver Jack Krug made yet another addition to Bucknell's all-time top-10 list in the 1-meter dive, registering a 277.95 against La Salle to rank sixth in the record book. Bucknell's other additions to the program's record book this season include: Jackson Vinarub in the 1-meter dive (3rd, 289.65), Fabian, Basista, Gehrig and Drew Greene in the 200 medley relay (6th, 1:29.93), and Gehrig, Finn Russell, Greene and Fabian in the 200 freestyle relay (6th, 1:21.24).
• Three Bison, Krug, Vinarub and Gehrig, have earned Patriot League Weekly awards this season. Krug was named PL Diver of the Week on Dec. 6, Vinarub was named PL Diver of the Week on Oct. 17, and Gehrig was named PL Swimmer of the Week on Oct. 17. Gehrig has placed first 13 times in individual events this season.
• Bucknell finished the 2022-23 season 6-2 (5-2 PL) and placed third at the Patriot League Championships with 538.5 points. The Bison went on to take second at the ECAC Championships.
• Bucknell returned five All-Patriot League honorees this season: Justin DiSanto (2023 & 2022 2nd Team), Andy Dorsel (2022 1st Team, 2023 2nd Team), Fabian (2022 1st Team, 2023 2nd Team), Gehrig (2023 & 2022 1st Team) and Chris Kopac (2022 1st Team & 2023 2nd Team).
• The Bison lost two-time All-Patriot League honoree and three-time Patriot League medalist Leo Kuyl to graduation last spring. Kuyl set both the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle school records in 2023.
• Bucknell returned three school-record holders: Kopac (200 freestyle), Fabian (100 butterfly) and Gehrig (200 butterfly, 200 IM).
• Seniors Gehrig, Fabian and Basista are serving as team captains this season.
• Bucknell welcomed seven newcomers to the roster this season.
Scouting Lehigh/Series History
• The Mountain Hawks fell to 1-6 (1-1 PL) with a narrow 140-139 loss to Marist on Jan. 13. Against Patriot League opponents, Lehigh fell 252-44 in the season opener at Loyola and defeated Lafayette at home 164-134.
• Lehigh returned 11 letterwinners from 2022-23, including the school's record holder in the 200 backstroke, Ben Kisker. The Mountain Hawks had no All-Patriot League honorees last season.
• Lehigh finished sixth at the 2023 Patriot League Championships with 180.5 points.
• Bucknell is 40-21 in the all-time series with Lehigh, which dates back to 1960, and has taken each of the last three meetings. The Bison defeated the Mountain Hawks 194-73 at home last January. Bucknell won 11 events and went runner-up in 10 events in last year's matchup. It also went 1-2-3 in five events.
