Women's Swim & Dive Handed Loss at Army West Point, 207-93

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Bucknell women's swimming & diving team resumed its season Saturday at Army and fell 207-93 to the hosting Black Knights. The reigning Patriot League runners-up collected first place in 15 of 16 events to improve to 3-2 (2-1 PL) on the season, while Bucknell moved to 3-4 (3-4 PL) in duals.
The Bison took the runner-up spot in eight events, and Sydney Dettmann posted the top finish in the 200 butterfly. Bucknell also placed third eight times.
Dettmann, who swam the third-fastest 200 butterfly in program history when the Bison last competed on Dec. 3, recorded another solid performance Saturday afternoon with a 2:04.13 to edge Army's Maggie Kroening (2:04.63). The first-year Bison also swam the first leg of the 400 freestyle relay team, which finished second at the conclusion of the meet.
Senior Esme Hunter registered four finishes in the top three, including her leadoff spot in the second-place 200 medley relay. She also took second in the 200 backstroke (2:04.12), third in the 100 backstroke (57.86), and third in the 200 IM (2:09.33). Kyle Kelly finished just ahead of her in the 200 IM with a 2:08.65 for second place.
Joining Hunter in the 200 medley relay was Bingley, who added a runner-up spot in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.61) and a third-place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:25.21).
Meghan Catherwood had Bucknell's best finish on the boards, taking second on the 3-meter with a 253.58.
Bucknell turns around to host La Salle at Kinney Natatorium on Sunday, Jan. 14 at 1 p.m. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
