Women's Tennis Claims All Four Singles Groups, Crowns Two Doubles Teams at Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women's tennis team wrapped up an excellent opening weekend at the Bucknell Invitational on Sunday, winning all four singles groups and two of the three doubles groups.
Women's Singles Group Champions
Blue – Anna Lajos, Bucknell
Orange – Abby Platt, Bucknell
White – Tori Allen, Bucknell
Grey – Jaycie Mair/Mirra Manolov, Bucknell (tied games W/L)
Women's Doubles Group Champions
Blue – King/Platt, Bucknell
Orange – Lajos/Marcus, Bucknell
White – Miyake/Thomas, Saint Francis
Five Bison – Lajos, Platt, Manolov, Allen and Mair – went 3-0 in singles play for the weekend. All five won in two sets on Sunday, including a perfect 6-0, 6-0 shutout by Mair over Mallory Thomas of Saint Francis. Manolov and Allen gave up just one game each. Kate Novak pitched a shutout Sunday as well for her first singles win of the season.
Lajos, Allen and Mair, who were each crowned champions in their respective flights, won every set throughout the tournament.
In Sunday's doubles action, King and Platt won a convincing 6-1 match over Saint Francis' Kelly Dowuona and Kally Kadzinski in the top flight. Lajos and Marcus also took down Saint Francis' Sara Jankovic and Valeria Vinces, 6-2. Both Bucknell tandems went undefeated for the weekend. King and Platt won their three doubles matches by a combined score of 18-4.
The Bison are off next weekend before returning to action on Friday, Sept. 15 for the three-day Carnegie Mellon Invite.
