Sofia Nogalo Named Patriot League Golfer of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell freshman Sofia Nogalo earned Patriot League Golfer of the Week honors on Wednesday after a sensational performance at Youngstown State's Roseann Schwartz Invitational over the weekend.
Nogalo turned in rounds of 70-74 for an even-par total of 144 and a tie for first place atop the 60-player field. The Greenwich, Conn., native held the overnight lead after making six birdies on the way to a 2-under 70 in the first round, marking just the sixth round of -2 or better in team history. In the second round, she fell out of the lead before birdieing three of her final five holes, including a clutch birdie at the par-5 18th to tie Detroit Mercy's Ariel Chang for first place.
The tournament tiebreaker criteria was the lower second-round score, so Chang was declared the medalist and Nogalo runner-up. Nogalo has now posted two top-3 finishes in her first three collegiate events. She was T-3rd at the Bucknell Invitational to start the season, and she leads the team with a 75.0 scoring average over eight rounds.
Bucknell is right back in action this weekend at the Navy Fall Invitational.
