
Women's Cross Country Treks to Bethlehem for the Paul Short Run

LEWISBURG, Pa.- The Bucknell University women's cross country team treks to Bethlehem, Pa. on Saturday, Sept. 30, when the team competes in the annual and highly competitive Paul Short Run. The event will once again be one of the largest in the country, featuring 450 college and high school teams with a combined 5,515 entries. Teams will be distributed between six scoring college races, four high school scoring races, and two open-division races.

"I consider the Paul Short Run to be the start of our season as it is the first major meet of the campaign for the team," said head coach Kevin Donner. "This meet will essentially be a preview of the Patriot League and Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships. The regional champions will be raced on this course."

After the Paul Short Run, the Bison will rest until Oct. 13 when they compete in the ECAC/IC4A Championships.

Overview
- The Goodman Campus Cross Country Course, the home course of Lehigh Cross Country, will also host the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals on Nov. 10.
- The Bison won the RMU Colonial Invitational, defeating West Virginia and other noted opponents.
- Bucknell won two consecutive meets for the first season since 2021 when the Orange & Blue won the Bison Open and the Father Bede Invitational.
- Senior Abby Paczewski led the Bison charge by finishing third on a time of 17:31.3, narrowly missing tying for second as the silver runner finished with 17.31.2. It is the second straight meet where Paczewski was the leading Bison runner.
- Sophomore Caryn Rippey dashed to a fourth-place finish on a time of 17:41.6. Rippey picked off where she left off at the Harry H. Lang Invitational by once again serving as Paczewski's second-in-command.
- Freshman Hailey Reinhard broke into the top ten by finishing sixth with a mark of 18:08.9. She improved five spots from her performance at the Lang Invitational.
- Reinhard was immediately followed by senior Ally Clarke, who earned seventh place (18:13.6). That represented a ten-spot jump as she returned to prime running status.
- Freshman Kailey Granger shined in her collegiate debut race, taking seventh (18:29.2). She won Patriot League Rookie of the Week for her finish.
- The Bison are returning to the Paul Short Run for the first time since 2021. Bucknell finished 25th out of 38 teams in 2021.
After the Paul Short Run, the Bison will rest until Oct. 13 when they compete in the ECAC/IC4A Championships.
