Donner's Debriefing
"It was a solid season opener for us, and it was good to get on this season's Patriot League Championship course," said head coach Kevin Donner. "The course is tricky with some hills, but we handled it well. Paczewski and Rippey are much improved compared to a year ago, and our first years look great. Most of the top teams did not run their top people because it is early in the season, but we did and got much from it."Â
Recap
The Bison placed three runners in the top ten, a feat that played a pivotal role in the triumph.Â
Senior Abby Paczewski led the Bison charge by finishing second on a time of 18:00.1. She was only three seconds behind the first-place finisher. Sophomore Caryn Rippey picked up from where her successful track and field season left off to finish third (18:15.1). Freshman Kailey Granger shined in her collegiate debut race, taking seventh (18:29.2).
Another freshman, Hailey Reinhard, narrowly missed the top ten by finishing 11th (18:35.6). She was 0.03 seconds away from obtaining a top ten spot in her debut race. Laura Sakol, a senior, completed the Bison scoring with her placement of 15th (18:46.2).Â
Ally Clarke and Lauren Trapani were behind their teammates, finishing 17th (18:54.3) and 18th (19:00.1).Â
Up Next
The Bison rest for a weekend before heading to Moon Township on Sept. 16 for the Colonial Invitational.Â
