LEWISBURG, Pa. – Rising senior Jack Forrest and recent graduates Xander Rice and Alex Timmerman were all named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court on Thursday. The award is given to men's college basketball juniors, seniors, and graduate students who finished the 2022-23 academic year with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or higher.
Forrest (economics), Rice (psychology), and Timmerman (sociology) all met the standard and were also named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll last month.
Forrest averaged 10.1 points per game in his first season at Bucknell after transferring from Saint Joseph's. After missing the first 10 games of the season due to injury and then easing his way back as a reserve, Forrest was an impact player for the Bison throughout the bulk of Patriot League play. He had a pair of 25-point games in wins over Army and American, and he finished the season shooting a solid 38.7 percent from 3-point distance.
Rice was a three-year starter and four-year contributor in the Bison backcourt. He was a Third Team All-Patriot League selection last season after leading the team in scoring (14.1) and assists (3.8). Rice, who will use his fifth year of eligibility to play for his father, King Rice, at Monmouth next season, ranked in the top 10 in the Patriot League in scoring, assists, free-throw percentage (.819), and minutes played (33.6). His 84.0 career free-throw percentage is fourth-best in team history.
Timmerman was a key frontcourt player for the Bison over the last two seasons, and in 2022-23 he set career highs in scoring (11.4) and rebounding (7.2). He ranked second in the league in rebounding and recorded seven double-doubles. Timmerman tallied a career-high 27 points against Lehigh and had 23 with seven rebounds in a win over Austin Peay that clinched the Ocean Bracket title at the Sunshine Slam in Daytona Beach, Fla.
