Meghan Catherwood earns Scholar All-American honors
LEWISBURG, Pa. – The College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced its spring 2023 Scholar All-America Teams last week, and both the Bucknell men's and women's swimming and diving teams were recognized for their achievements in the classroom. Additionally, Bucknell's Meghan Catherwood earned Second Team CSCAA Scholar All-American individual honors.
During the spring semester, the women's team logged a 3.73 grade-point average, and the men posted a 3.34 GPA. 10 members of the women's team achieved a 4.0 GPA and 29 earned Dean's List status with a 3.5 or higher. Two men earned perfect 4.0s, and 14 qualified for the Dean's List.
It was also announced earlier in July that a combined 48 Bucknell swimming & diving student-athletes earned spots on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, with the women landing a program-record 32 on the list.
In order to be named a CSCAA Scholar All-American Second Team member, student-athletes must earn a minimum GPA of 3.5 and meet the "B" time standard for the national championship or participated in a diving zone qualification meet. Catherwood joined 721 Division I women that were recognized.
Catherwood, a sophomore diver majoring in biology, qualified for the 2023 NCAA Zone A Championships in March. She won the one-meter dive at the ECAC Championships in February with a score of 269.05, which ranks second in program history. She also registered Bucknell's second-best mark in the three-meter dive at the 2023 Patriot League Championships, placing fifth with a 282.45.
Catherwood was the first Bucknell diver to participate in the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships since Katie Hatherington '15 went in 2012. Catherwood posted a 4.0 GPA during the spring semester.
