Michael Owen Earns Spot on Academic All-Patriot League Team for Second Straight Year

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell senior Michael Owen was named to the Academic All-Patriot League Men's Tennis Team on Wednesday, marking the second year in a row he has been named to the six-man squad.
Since the Academic All-Patriot League team originated in 2011, Owen becomes the third Bison to make multiple appearances, joining three-time honorees Evan Zimmer (2011-13) and Daniel Wright (2016-18).
Owen is an economics major with a 3.83 cumulative grade-point average. He is an ITA Scholar-Athlete and has been a member of the executive board of the Bucknell Real Estate Club as well as an analyst with the Bucknell Finance Society.
As a two-year team captain, Owen has represented the men's tennis team on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. On the courts, he was a mainstay for the Bison in both singles and doubles, where he won 50 career matches in both. He ranks in a tie for 17th place on Bucknell's career wins list in both singles and doubles, and his combined total ranks 19th all-time.
Owen's 100th and final career overall win was an impressive straight-sets victory over Second Team All-Patriot League selection Luke Garner of Navy at No. 3 singles in the Patriot League Tournament semifinals.
Bucknell finished the 2022-23 season with a 15-8 record, its best mark since the 2012-13 team compiled the same record.
Owen was joined on the Academic All-Patriot League Team by Army's A.J. Woodman, Boston University's Ben Letzer, Lehigh's Michael Bukhalo, Loyola's Matt Cardano, and Navy's Sasha Panyan. Panyan was selected as the Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
