
Ten Bison Student-Athletes Named to CSC Academic All-District At-Large Teams

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Ten Bucknell student-athletes, including three from the Bison men's lacrosse team, earned spots on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District At-Large Teams on Tuesday. Named to the women's at-large team were field hockey's Clara McCormick, water polo's Bella Moynihan, lacrosse's Ella Payer, and the rowing duo of Caroline Brandt and Juliette Gaggini. Named to the men's squad were wrestler Kurt Phipps, golfer Blake Wisdom, and lacrosse standouts Connor Davis, Andrew Stanzel, and Danny Striano.
All 10 honorees now advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. The At-Large program includes student-athletes who participate in sports that do not have their own Academic All-America teams (football, men's & women's soccer, volleyball, men's & women's basketball, men's & women's swimming & diving, baseball, softball, men's & women's tennis, men's & women's track & field).
In order to be considered for the CSC Academic All-District and All-America Teams, a student-athlete must have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or better with at least one full year at his or her institution. Nominees also must be a starter or key reserve with participation in at least half of the team's contests.

Bucknell's 2023 CSC Academic All-District At-Large Honorees:
- Senior Caroline Brandt was a biomedical engineering major with a 3.87 GPA. She was a regular in Bucknell's Varsity Eight over the last three seasons and was a member of the gold-medal-winning 1V8+ at the 2022 Patriot League Championships. Brandt was a two-time All-Patriot League and Academic All-Patriot League honoree.
- Junior Juliette Gaggini has been the coxswain in the Varsity Eight for the last three years and is also a two-time All-Patriot League and Academic All-Patriot League selection. Off the water, she has a 3.93 GPA with a double major in English/literary studies and environmental studies.
- Senior Clara McCormick was a standout goalie on the Bison field hockey squad while maintaining a 3.94 GPA as a double major in political science and English/creative writing. A three-time NFCHA Scholar of Distinction and a two-time Academic All-Patriot League honoree, McCormick was the starting goalie on the Bison squad that captured the league title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight in the spring of 2001.
- Senior Bella Moynihan was a Second Team All-CWPA selection this spring for the Bison women's water polo team. A standout defender, Moynihan also earned a 3.94 GPA with a double major in economics and sociology.
- Senior Ella Payer was a highly decorated defender on the Bison women's lacrosse squad. She was a three-time All-Patriot League and two-time Academic All-Patriot League honoree, and she graduated earlier this month as Bucknell's all-time leader in draw controls. Payer maintained a 3.84 GPA in markets, innovation, and design.
- One of the Patriot League's top men's lacrosse goal-scorers, sophomore Connor Davis has a 3.55 GPA in economics. He was the league's Rookie of the Year after scoring 45 goals in 2022, and he added 25 more goals this past season despite missing time due to injury.
- Junior Kurt Phipps recently received the EIWA Academic Achievement Award for the third consecutive season, as he has maintained a 3.67 GPA in civil engineering and management for engineers. Phipps went 31-11 this season, including 9-1 in EIWA dual matches. He placed seventh at the EIWA Championships and made his first NCAA Championship appearance last March.
- Senior Andrew Stanzel earned a 3.58 GPA in economics, and he was recently named to the All-Patriot League Second Team and the Academic All-Patriot League Team. Stanzel started every game this season, and the defender ranked ninth nationally in caused turnovers per game.
- Senior Danny Striano was a political science major with a 3.52 GPA. An outstanding short-stick defensive midfielder, he led the team and ranked seventh in the Patriot League with 60 ground balls this season.
- Senior Blake Wisdom earned a spot on the 2023 Academic All-Patriot League Team after another strong season on the golf course. An economics major with a 3.59 GPA, he led the squad with a 72.3 scoring average and finished in a tie for 12th at the Patriot League Championships.
