
Water Polo Drops Two Games to Ranked Princeton & Harvard

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- The Bucknell Bison women's water polo team (5-20, 0-6 CWPA) dropped two games to ranked opponents on Saturday. The Bison fell 20-4 to #7 Princeton and 19-7 to #14 Harvard.Â
Game One Recap: #7 Princeton 20, Bucknell 4Â
The Bison fell behind 6-1 after the first period and could not catch up. Bella Schraa's goal cut the deficit to 2-1, but Princeton scored four straight tallies to end the period.Â
Princeton opened the second period with two more goals before Schraa scored again. The Tigers again tallied twice before a Bucknell goal ended the mini-run. This time, Isabelle Monaghan found the back of the net. For the third time, Princeton struck for two more goals. Gwen Kallmeyer ended the half and the Bison scoring for the game with a goal at the 18-second mark for a 12-4 Princeton halftime lead.Â
Princeton totaled five goals in the third period and four goals in the final period for a final score of 20-4.Â
Game Two Recap: #14 Harvard 19, Bucknell 7
Despite three goals from Isabella Monaghan, the Bison lost to nationally ranked Harvard.Â
The Crimson led 6-2 after the first period and never gave up the lead. It was 9-4 at halftime.Â
The Bison cut it to 9-5 on a Schraa score but Harvard went on a 5-1 run to put the game away.Â
In the fourth quarter, Bucknell tallied twice but Harvard added three goals to win 19-7.
