ANN ARBOR, Mich- The Bucknell Bison women's water polo team (5-23, 0-9 CWPA) lost two conference games to ranked foes in Harvard and Princeton. The Bison fell 18-9 to #14 Harvard and 17-6 to #7 Princeton.Â
Game One Recap: #14 Harvard 18, Bucknell 9
Bella Schraa totaled four goals to lead the Bison in scoring but it was not enough to overcome the Crimson.Â
An Isabella Monaghan goal tied the game at 1-1 but by the end of the first quarter Harvard led 8-2. A Schraa score proved to be a temporary blockade against the onslaught of Harvard goals.Â
Boati Motau tallied a goal in the second quarter with only one second remaining but Harvard increased their lead to 12-3 by halftime.
In the last two quarters both teams scored six goals that were divided by three scores in each period. Unfortunately for Bucknell, playing on even terms sealed the Crimson victory. Schraa scored three out of her four goals in the last two periods. A Monaghan tally ended the scoring at 18-9.Â
Game Two Recap: #7 Princeton 17, Bucknell 6
The Tigers had a 9-2 lead by halftime to gain the advantage over the Bison. Bucknell led 1-0 after Monaghan found the back of the net but it was all Princeton for the rest of the half except for a Schraa goal.Â
The third quarter was relatively serene as Princeton only scored twice and Bucknell tallied once on a Gwen Kallmeyer goal.Â
Sidney Finkler scored two goals for Bucknell and Monaghan tallied one but Princeton grabbed six goals to win 17-6.
Up Next
Bucknell concludes the regular season with a final conference game against Brown tomorrow. The game starts at 9 a.m.
