LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell junior Dutch Furlong was among the 11 men's lacrosse players around the country to appear on the second-round additions to the 2023 Tewaaraton Award Watch List, the Tewaaraton Foundation announced Thursday.
Furlong was one of two Patriot League players added to the Watch List on Thursday, joining Army's Jacob Morin. The prestigious award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States.
Furlong is currently second in the nation with his 5.71 points per game, trailing only Cornell's CJ Kirst (5.86). He's also third among NCAA Division I players with 3.29 assists per game, behind only Notre Dame's Pat Kavanagh and Virginia's Connor Shellenberger.
A Baltimore, Md. native, Furlong has registered at least one point in 27 consecutive games dating back to his freshman season. This year, he's posted five or more points in four of Bucknell's seven games and has hit his career high of 10 twice. He's totaled 40 points on 17 goals and 23 assists.
Furlong's two 10-point outings were two points shy of Bucknell's single-game record, and his eight-assist performance against Boston U. fell one shy of tying Matt Fraser's 43-year-old school record. With 48 assists in his career, Furling is 11 away from entering Bucknell's all-time career top 10 list.
The selection committee for the Tewaaraton Award is made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation.
Five men's and five women's finalists will be announced in early May. The Tewaaraton Award recipients will be chosen after the conclusion of the collegiate lacrosse season.
