LEWISBURG, Pa. -- It was a banner semester for the Bucknell women's soccer team on the field and in the classroom in the fall of 2022. The Patriot League champion Bison placed 22 student-athletes on the Fall 2022 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, the league office announced on Tuesday. Â
Not only did the Bison win the Patriot League Tournament and advance to the NCAA Tournament for the sixth time in program history last fall, but the team combined for a stellar 3.60 grade-point average, which was one of the highest marks of any Bucknell team. Of the 22 student-athletes on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, 21 also made the University's Dean's List with a GPA of 3.50 or better, and eight Bison earned perfect 4.0s: Rylee Donaldson, Reese Evans, Kelley Francis, Ashley Groeber, Katie Schiano, Lea Tarzy, Paige Temple, and Brooke Tracey.Â
Donaldson, the 2021 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, and Teresa Deda, the 2022 Patriot League Midfielder of the Year, were also selected to the 11-player Academic All-Patriot League Team in the fall. Those two, along with Tarzy, Tracey, Schiano, and Abby Gearhart, were also named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team in November.Â
All five of Bucknell's All-Patriot League honorees, including major-award winners Deda and Jenna Hall (Goalkeeper of the Year) were represented on the Honor Roll.Â
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have earned at least a 3.20 GPA during the fall semester and participate in one of the Patriot League's seven fall championship sports. Bucknell recorded a total of 176 Honor Roll student-athletes from those seven sports, which was the most in the Patriot League.Â
