LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell University women's water polo team is set to return to action this Saturday at the Bruno Classic in Providence, R.I. All games will be streamed live on ESPN+.

Bucknell heads into the weekend looking for its first win after falling in three contests over the weekend to ranked opponents UC Santa Barbara, UC San Diego, and Wagner.
All three opponents were ranked in the top 17 in the country at the time, with the Bison set for a rematch with Wagner, 17th in this week's poll, in the third game of the weekend. That game will be the first of two ranked opponents for the Bison that day, with Marist (No. 22) also ranked in the latest CWPA poll.
First-years Bella Schraa and Gwen Kallmeyer each scored their first career goals in Bucknell's defeat to No. 12 UCSB, Schraa was one of two Bison along with Isabelle Monaghan to score in back-to-back appearances over the weekend. Monaghan was Bucknell's only player to score in each game last weekend, including netting a hat trick against Wagner.
Bucknell has faced Austin College twice, collecting wins in 2020 and 2022 by scores of 13-8 and 9-7, respectively. In the win last season against the Kangaroos, senior Chloe Smith netted a career-best four goals while Bella Moynihan also scored. Goalkeeper Annika Lampen also played a huge role in the win, compiling 15 saves.
Bucknell last played Santa Clara in 2017, taking a 6-5 win. In the last matchup against Marist in 2020, Bucknell won an exciting 16-12 matchup, bolstered by a then-school-record eight goals from Ally Furano. Monaghan has since broken that record with a ten-goal haul in a win over Mount St. Mary's last season. Both matchups against Austin College and Marist were at the Bruno Classic.
After this weekend, the Bison will host the Bucknell Invite on Saturday, February 11. The Invite will be one of two chances along with a home game for the Bison against Saint Francis (Pa.) to see the Bison at Kinney Natatorium.
