Men's and Women's Swim & Dive Teams Take Second at ECACs, Schinnerer Named Women's Coach of the Meet

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Both the Bucknell men's and women's swimming & diving teams finished second at the 2023 ECAC Championships, which came to a close at Lejeune Hall Sunday evening. The men totaled 416 points to finish behind only Navy and earn a runner-up finish for a second consecutive year. The women, who held a slight lead over the Mids through Saturday's events, posted 503 points behind Navy's 546.
Final Results
The women's team captured first-place finishes in three events throughout the meet, and head coach Dan Schinnerer, along with his staff, earned the Women's Coach of the Meet award. Chris Fabian represented the lone champion on the men's side after winning the 100 backstroke on Saturday. The men also added two more runner-up finishes on Sunday and secured three more program top-10 times.
Braden Beagle placed second in the 200 backstroke Sunday with a 1:47.71. He was less than a second behind Navy's first-place finisher, and Beagle's 1:47.29 he swam in the prelims ranks third in school history.
The men's 400 freestyle relay team also earned silver. Chris Fabian, Nick Shopis, Shane Wynne and Chris Kopac combined for a 2:59.62, which ranks sixth in school history and came in just behind Navy, which set a meet record in the event.
Andy Dorsel also added to the men's record book with his 1:59.91 in the 200 breaststroke, which places him fourth all-time.
Sabrina Vumbacco was the top finisher for the women on Sunday, placing fourth in the 200 butterfly.
Throughout the three-day meet, the women's team saw nine top-3 finishes and made five new additions to the program's all-time top-10 lists. The men captured six top-3 finishes and made eight new additions to the all-time top-10 lists.
Both programs placed third at the 2023 Patriot League Championships last weekend and combined for 11 All-Patriot League honorees.
