Bucknell Women's Water Polo Hosts Bucknell Invite This Weekend

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell University women's water polo team is set to open its conference slate this weekend when it hosts CWPA rivals Michigan and Saint Francis (Pa.) as a part of the Bucknell Invitational.

- Bucknell returns to action after a 2-2 weekend at the Bruno Classic, collecting wins against Austin College and Santa Clara before falling to nationally-ranked Wagner and Marist.
- Bucknell evened its record against the Broncos with the win, holding on for an 11-10 win after Isabelle Monaghan scored the game-winning goal. Monaghan leads the team with 13 goals this season, including a hat trick against the Broncos to help Bucknell take the one-goal win, its first since 2017.
- Three out of the four matchups in program history against Santa Clara have been decided by one goal.
- Bucknell also improved to 3-0 all-time against Austin College, with senior Megan LaCroix leading the way for the Bison with a hat trick in Bucknell's 10-5 win over the Kangaroos.
- Bella Schraa has made an immediate impact for the Bison in 2023, boasting the second-highest goal tally behind Monaghan with 12 this season, Schraa's five-goal game against Marist was the most by a Bison player this season.
- Bucknell has never defeated Michigan (0-27), with the two teams meeting twice in 2022. Bucknell faced the Wolverines in the 2021 CWPA Championship game, falling 12-5.
- The Bison own winning records against the Red Flash (12-2) and Villanova (21-6). Saint Francis has taken the last two matchups in the series while Bucknell has won 19 straight against the Wildcats dating back to 2002. Villanova and Bucknell last met in 2017, with Bucknell taking a 14-7 win.
- The home games will be three of the four home matchups for the Bison this season, with a March 25 conference matchup against the Red Flash Bucknell's other home game.
- After this weekend, the Bison will travel to Erie, Pa. for three games as a part of the Curtis Robinette Memorial Tournament.
