LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell senior guard Jack Forrest was named the PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday after topping the 20-point mark against two quality opponents last week.
In games against Princeton and Penn State, Forrest averaged 22.0 points per game, upping his season average to 16.2 points per game. That is the second-highest mark in the Patriot League, and he continues to lead the league in 3-pointers per game (2.9) and minutes per game (35.7). Forrest hit 16 of 30 shots from the field and 8 of 13 from 3-point range last week, and he also averaged 5.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists.
Forrest scored a game-high 23 points in Saturday's 76-67 road win over Penn State. He scored 16 points in the first half and then helped the Bison flip a 10-point deficit into a nine-point victory with some big shots down the stretch. His 3-pointer gave Bucknell its first lead of the second half, and he came up with a critical steal followed by two free throws to help ice the game in the final minute. Forrest also had four rebounds, three steals, and two assists while hitting 5 of 7 shots from 3-point range in Bucknell's first win over the Nittany Lions since 2013.
Earlier in the week, Forrest led the Bison with 21 points and six rebounds against an undefeated Princeton team that won the Ivy League title and reached the NCAA Sweet Sixteen a year ago. Forrest hit 8 of 16 shots from the field and 3 of 6 from the arc in that game. He helped the Bison build an 11-point lead in the second half, but Princeton made a big run late in the game to win 85-71.
Bucknell heads into a two-week break for final exams with a 3-7 record against a challenging schedule. The Bison are next in action on Dec. 16 at home against Radford.
