Eight Bucknell Football Student-Athletes Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Eight Bucknell football student-athletes earned spots on the 2023 Academic All-District Team, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), this week. Additionally, four Bison were named CSC Academic All-America finalists and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on in January.
Brad Jamison, John Ohnegian, Connor Carretta, Coleman Bennett, Ethan Robinson, Sean Quarterman, Cade Rooney and Zack Tarburton were each recognized for their academic and athletic achievements by being named to the list. Jamison, Ohnegian, Bennett and Robinson were Bucknell's four finalists.
The Academic All-District Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To be eligible for the honor, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore athletically or academically, have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, compete in 90 percent of the institution's games or start in at least 66 percent of the team's contests.
Three of Bucknell's honorees, Bennett, Ohnegian and Robinson, were members of the 2023 Academic All-Patriot League Team. Bennett, Jamison and Robinson were 2023 All-Patriot League Team members.
Jamison, a mechanical engineering major, started all 11 games at linebacker for the Bison and ranked sixth in the Patriot League in total tackles. Ohnegian, a sophomore pursuing a bachelor of arts, started all 11 games at center and was named Bucknell's most outstanding offensive lineman. Bennett, Bucknell's Bison Gridiron Club MVP Award winner and team captain, was also a William V. Campbell Trophy Semifinalist and graduated in December with a degree in sociology and a minor in Spanish. Carretta, a senior accounting major, tied for the team lead in sacks and was second among Bucknell defensive linemen in tackles while starting all 11 games.
Robinson, a junior economics major, earned First Team All-Patriot League honors with three interceptions and 13 total pass breakups. Quarterman, a senior finance major, started eight games on the offensive line. Rooney made seven starts on the defensive line, and the junior finance major came up with two interceptions along with 18 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss. Tarburton, a senior environmental studies major, made nine starts on the offensive line and received Bucknell's Bub Morgan Award for Tenacity.
Of Bucknell's eight Academic All-District Team members, four maintain GPAs of 3.8 or higher.
The finalists for Academic All-America will be voted on by CSC members. First, Second and Third Team Academic All-America honorees will be announced Tuesday, Jan. 23.
