LEWISBURG, Pa. – More postseason honors were bestowed upon Bucknell women's soccer stars Teresa Deda and Jenna Hall on Tuesday, as both earned United Soccer Coaches All-North Region honors after leading the Bison to a third straight Patriot League championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Deda was a First Team selection as a midfielder, while Hall was a Second Team choice at the goalkeeper position.
Deda and Hall were both repeat Patriot League major award winners this season. Deda, a junior, was selected as the league's Midfielder of the Year for the second year in a row, and she earned First Team All-Patriot League honors for the third time in as many years. Hall also became a three-time all-league honoree and pocketed her second straight Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year citation. The senior netminder followed that up with Patriot League Tournament MVP honors after saving 13 shots without a blemish in regulation play and then stopping three more in the penalty kick shootout win over Army in the championship match.
Hall played every minute in goal for the Bison this season and posted a league-high nine shutouts. That tied her own career high and was third-most in a season in team history, her 12 wins were second-most in team history, and her .863 save percentage was third-best. Hall's 26 career shutouts are a program record.
Deda was once again the driver of Bucknell's attack from her central midfield position. She recorded a brace in the Patriot League Tournament semifinal win over Boston University, giving her a career-high nine goals to go with a league-high nine assists. Deda captured her third straight Patriot League assists title, and her 29 career assists are second-most in team history and sixth-most in Patriot League history with one year still to go.
Deda joined Hall-of-Famer and Bucknell all-time scoring leader Lisa Gibbons as the only players in team history with at least nine goals and nine assists in a season.
This is the second all-region citation for both Deda and Hall. Deda was a Third Team selection in 2021, and Hall was a Third Team honoree last season. Deda is just the fourth First Team All-Region selection in team history, joining Gibbons (1994), Kendall Ham (2016), and Karli Cirovski (2016). Ham went on to earn Third Team All-America honors in 2016, and Deda will now move on to the All-America ballot herself.
Earning All-Region honors out of the North Region is no easy task, as it includes the Big Ten among its member conferences. Nine of the 11 First Team selections came from the Big Ten, with Deda and Wisconsin-Milwaukee forward Kayla Rollins the lone outliers. Iowa, which defeated Bucknell 2-0 in overtime in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, had two First Team honorees in goalkeeper Macy Enneking and defender Samantha Cary.
The Bison finished 12-4-5 overall, 5-1-3 in the Patriot League, and 8-0-2 at home this season, with the 12 wins tied for second-most in team history. The Bison entered the NCAA Tournament with an RPI of 58 out of 347 Division I teams, and they are one of only seven teams in the nation on a streak of three or more league titles, joining Memphis (AAC), Florida State (ACC), Saint Louis (A10), Georgetown (Big East), UC Irvine (Big West), and Milwaukee (Horizon).
