LEWISBURG, Pa.- The Bucknell Bison volleyball team (8-9, 4-4 PL) defeated the visiting Holy Cross Crusaders (3-13, 0-7 PL) in three sets (25-22, 25-16, 25-17) on Saturday night. Catherine Jamison and Sidney Shaffer led a balanced attack with 10 kills each. Jordan Hardy notched 20 digs to pass the career 1300 mark.Â
Recap
The Bison set the tone in the first set and, with the benefit of hindsight, the entire game by scoring the first two points. Holy Cross battled to within 7-5, but the Bison put their hooves and blitzed to a 17-7 lead courtesy of numerous kills and Crusader errors. Holy Cross stabilized the situation with several mini-runs to draw within 20-15. Bucknell used a 3-0 stretch to keep the Crusaders away, but the Worcester team charged forward, going on a 7-1 run to make things interesting. Bucknell calmed down and used a Catherine Jamison kill to win the first set.Â
Holy Cross took a brief 4-3 lead early in the second set before Bucknell turned on the jets. The Bison galloped off to a 17-10 lead as the Orange & Blue used a mixture of attacks and Crusader errors to power the point-scoring. Once again, Holy Cross did not go quietly into the night in set play as the Massachusetts squad drew with 21-16. Bucknell refused to allow a further comeback, scoring the last four points of the set to win 25-16. Jamison powered the stretch with two kills.Â
The third set was nearly all Bucknell. Holy Cross tied the score twice early, but with the tally at 7-6 Bucknell, the Bison went on a 10-2 run to end all Crusader dreams. Cameron Lloyd recorded two service aces during the stretch to demoralize the Holy Cross defense. The Crusaders recovered their nerves and fought valiantly to cut it to 21-15, but the Bison were not daunted. Jamison recorded her 10th kill for the 24th point, and a Holy Cross service error provided the anticlimactic result to win the set and game.Â
Notes
Jordan Hardy continues her climb up the Bucknell record book for career digs. She now has 1319 digs in her third year of competition.Â

No libero gives more effort than Jordan Hardy! Her timely dive led to a Bucknell point and paved the way for the 3-0 sweep! Hardy-felt effort as we say in Lewisburg!
