Men's Water Polo Falls at No.19 Navy

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Bucknell men's water polo team (5-8, 2-2 MAWPC) dropped a 15-10 decision to Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference rival No. 19 Navy (12-4, 3-2 MAWPC) on Sunday afternoon at Scott Natatorium in Annapolis.

The Bucknell offense had five different players score goals, including junior center defender Hasan Mogultay, who led the team with five scores. He was joined with multiple goals by fifth-year attacker Andu Vlasceanu, who found the back of the net twice. Sophomore center Maxime Touzot, freshman attacker Sean Michael Tunnicliff, and sophomore attacker Shay Gillearn rounded out play with a goal apiece

Bucknell center defender Mogultay wasted no time in the first quarter, scoring the first two of his three goals for the Bison to give them an early 2-1 lead against the Midshipmen. Navy notched three goals as well to tie the game at 3-3 at the end of the first quarter.

Bucknell pulled ahead once again when Gillearn buried the ball into the back of the net to regain a one-goal advantage. The Bison could not find the back of the net for the rest of the quarter. Navy went on a 3-1 run that quarter to finish out the half 6-4.

The Mids notched two more goals to kick off the second half of play before the Bison made a run to close the gap. Bucknell initiated a 4-3 run over Navy, including scores from Mogultay, who found the back of the net twice. Vlasceanu and Touzot rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece to show the score 9-8 Mids.

The Bison tied up the game 9-9 one final time with Vlasceanu's second goal. The Bison battled hard throughout the game but ultimately fell short in the end.
